Philosophy
Philosophy is a field of study that includes diverse subfields such as aesthetics, epistemology, ethics, logic, and metaphysics, in which people ask questions such as whether God exists, what is the nature of reality, whether knowledge is possible, and what makes actions right or wrong. The fundamental method of philosophy is the use of reasoning to evaluate arguments concerning these questions. However, the exact scope and methodology of philosophy is not rigid. What counts as philosophy is itself debated, and varies across philosophical traditions.

Ethics Update
Ethical theory, resources and issues

Ethics Updates is designed primarily to be used by ethics instructors and their students. It is intended to provide resources and updates on current literature, both popular and professional, that relates to ethics. It was founded in 1994 by Lawrence M. Hinman, a professor of philosophy at the University of San Diego. Originally, it was intended to update the bibliographical essays in two of his books, Ethics: A Pluralistic Approach to Moral Theory and Contemporary Moral Issues. The site still reflects its origins: the structure of the two principal components of the site reflects the tables of contents of those two books. As the site developed, a number of new features were added. An on-line library of classic texts in ethics provides the basis of the Reference Library. The Ethics Calendar provides information about ethics-related conferences around the world, and now thypically lists over thirty upcoming conferences. The Ethics Forums provide a place for students to discuss the ethical issues covered in the site. Ethics Case Studies presents numerous case studies in applied ethics, and each case study has an accompanying discussion folder. The site also contains guides to writing ethics papers, a glossary of key ethical terms, and most recently a section on "Philosophers Speak Out on Issues of War, Peace, and Terrorism."

New Zealand Skeptics
The website of the New Zealand Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (Inc.)

The New Zealand Skeptics form a network of New Zealanders including magicians, teachers, scientists, health professionals and many others from all walks of life. Members have a variety of religious faiths, economic beliefs and political leanings, but are all interested in examining what objective scientific support there is for claims of such things as psychic abilities, alternative health practices, creationism and other areas where science, pseudo-science and shonky science interact.

There are always more questions!
Is that a star or a UFO?
Which do you think is more likely?
Is the Earth only 6,000 years old?
Why do some people believe this?
Does homeopathy work?
What is the evidence that it does?
If extraordinary claims are being made, you should demand extraordinary proof, especially if you are putting your money or your life on the line.

Many of the practices questioned by the Skeptics take advantage of people at their most vulnerable - cancer patients seeking alternative cures, grief-stricken bereaved seeking contact with the dead. They prey upon our trust, our hopes and our fears, and exploit our lack of specialist knowledge.

Where the potential for harm exists - whether physical, mental, emotional or economic - Skeptics consider it unethical not to challenge such claims.

Skeptics - looking for the best place between "suckered" gullibility and close-minded cynicism
