The official site of Archives New Zealand, "the official guardian of New Zealand's heritage documents"
"Archives New Zealand is the official guardian of New Zealand's heritage documents. We gather, store and protect an extremely wide range of material. Our holdings include the originals of the Treaty of Waitangi, government files and records, maps, paintings, photos and film. Archives New Zealand's two main roles are
* to ensure governments' activities are recorded and the records are kept permanently; and
* to provide access to these records.
"Many different people and organisations use the materials held at Archives New Zealand. They document rights and entitlements and provide evidence of government activity. The materials also record history and document the relationship between Māori and the Crown. The archives are often used to research Treaty of Waitangi claims or trace whakapapa and ancestry."

Kiwiblog is an interesting sampling of (mainly) rightwing views, built around those of Farrar himself. The site says nothing about itself, and provides no means of asking anyone anything about it - like "What's this all about, please?" - for links in the site to its owner don't work. I had to telephone him to make contact, and have invited him to provide a brief explanation of the site's reason for being. Maybe I'll get one; maybe I won't. If I do, I'll put it in here.
Meanwhile, here is an excerpt from Farrar's Wikipedia entry (is there anyone alive who doesn't have a Wikipedia bio now? I must see whether my 12- and 17-year old children have organised entries for themselves yet ...):
"David P Farrar (born 1967) is a New Zealand political activist, blogger and pollster who is also a frequent comentator in the media on Internet issues. Farrar had held many roles within the New Zealand National Party, including Volunteer Campaign Manager for National's Wellington Central candidate Mark Blumsky in the 2005 general election. He has worked in Parliament for the last four National Party Leaders. His blog, Kiwiblog, is one of the most widely read in New Zealand and receives three to four times as many comments as any other New Zealand blog. In August 2006, National Party leader Don Brash commented on the blog ... Previously, Farrar worked as a staff member of the Leader of the Opposition (1999-2004), a staff member at National Head Office (1999 and 2004), a staff member in the Office of the Prime Minister (under Jim Bolger and later Jenny Shipley) 1997-1999."
A note added on 16 Deecmber 2006:
Mr Farrar has replied as follows:
Apologies for the late reply David. My suggestion text for the blog is: "David Farrar's Kiwiblog is NZ's most popular blog. News and views on politics, technology and anything else of interest to the author."
Destiny New Zealand, a Christian political party in New Zealand, centres around the charismatic/pentecostal Destiny Church, founded and led by the televangelist Brian Tamaki. The party describes itself as "centre-right", and places a strong focus on traditional family values. It does not hold any seats in Parliament.
From the website:
All of our policies are based on the timeless principle that the family is the cornerstone of society and marriage is the cornerstone of the family. Families impact on every sector of society. The breakdown of families is a primary cause of all problems that impact on the health and stability of our country.
For this reason, Destiny New Zealand policies aim to protect, empower and prosper New Zealand families.
In 'protecting' the family, Destiny New Zealand aims to: I. Protect the 'institution of marriage' (Between one man and one woman), which is the universally tried and proven stable basis for raising children. Families centred on marriage generally provide the best environment for child development and contribute powerfully to the overall health and vitality of society.
II. Uphold the rule of law and to administer justice, thereby creating and maintaining a safe environment for our families to live, work and play.
By 'empowering' the family, the party aims to strengthen families by fostering a marriage culture and providing greater recognition and support to families centred on marriage. The party also aims to uphold and positively promote the roles of parenting, fatherhood and motherhood throughout its policies.
By 'prospering' the family, the party aims to keep more money in the home through lower taxes and by providing greater opportunity for families to accumulate wealth and assets for the benefit of future generations. In this way, we begin a cycle whereby children are born into asset and not debt - freedom and not dependency.
Destiny New Zealand is fully committed to supporting sole-parent families, both practically and financially. However, the time-honoured institution of marriage will remain the benchmark and standard of normative family in Destiny New Zealand policy.
Our Family Policy is the foundation of all our policies and will remain the priority of the party's objectives in government. By using the Family Policy as our foundation policy, other policies are developed in the light of how they can positively contribute towards our vision of strong, prosperous families underpinning a strong, prosperous nation.
With Destiny New Zealand, your family is our priority.
"Strong families mean less government - that's got to be a good thing!"
Richard Lewis - Leader
