The official website of Television New Zealand Ltd
Television programmes for TVOne and TV2.
The state-owned television broadcaster runs two channels. Here's what it says about itself, and them:
TVNZ is New Zealand's largest, free-to-air broadcaster and the nation's television public service broadcaster, operating two channels, TV ONE and TV2.
86% of New Zealanders watch TVNZ each week. TVNZ has 68.5% share of the total free to air market and a 58% share of the total television market.
Approximately 90% of TVNZ's revenue comes from commercial sources - the biggest being advertising revenue. About 10% of our revenue comes directly from public sources including contestable funding from New Zealand on Air and direct Charter Specific Government funding.
TV ONE
TV ONE is primarily targeted at a more mature audience, with a broad range of programming including ONE NEWS & Current Affairs and ONE Sport.
The channel screens much of New Zealand's major sporting events such as the Olympics, the Commonwealth Games and America's Cup.
TV ONE features a full entertainment schedule that includes both homegrown and international shows that New Zealanders have grown up with such as Coronation Street, through to a range of award winning documentaries, drama and comedy.
TV2
TV2 focusses on entertainment and delivers a strong line-up of comedies, drama, movies and local programming. TV2 caters primarily to a young and family orientated audience with an emphasis on providing entertainment and information to the young and young at heart.
New Zealanders love the wide range and depth of locally-produced content TV2 has to offer, with shows like Shortland Street, Mitre 10 DIY Rescue and Motorway Patrol. TV2 also screens many favourite international shows including Friends, The Sopranos, ER and McLeod's Daughters.
